  16. If what was stolen is actually found alive in his possession—whether ox or donkey or sheep—he must pay back double.

  23. Now when the people saw that Moses was delayed in coming down from the mountain, they gathered around Aaron and said, “Come, make us gods who will go before us. As for this Moses who brought us up out of the land of Egypt, we do not know what has happened to him!”

  27. So Moses returned to the LORD and said, “Oh, what a great sin these people have committed! They have made gods of gold for themselves.
  28. And the LORD sent a plague on the people because of what they had done with the calf that Aaron had made.
  29. For the LORD had said to Moses, “Tell the Israelites, ‘You are a stiff-necked people. If I should go with you for a single moment, I would destroy you. Now take off your jewelry, and I will decide what to do with you.’”
  30. Observe what I command you this day. I will drive out before you the Amorites, Canaanites, Hittites, Perizzites, Hivites, and Jebusites.
  31. But whenever Moses went in before the LORD to speak with Him, he would remove the veil until he came out. And when he came out, he would tell the Israelites what he had been commanded,

  36. Now if the whole congregation of Israel strays unintentionally and the matter escapes the notice of the assembly so that they violate any of the LORD’s commandments and incur guilt by doing what is forbidden,
  37. When a leader sins unintentionally and does what is prohibited by any of the commandments of the LORD his God, he incurs guilt.
  38. And if one of the common people sins unintentionally and does what is prohibited by any of the LORD’s commandments, he incurs guilt.
  39. …once he has sinned and becomes guilty, he must return what he has stolen or taken by extortion, or the deposit entrusted to him, or the lost property he found,
  40. And Moses said to them, “This is what the LORD has commanded to be done.”
  41. What has been done today has been commanded by the LORD in order to make atonement on your behalf.
  42. You must remain at the entrance to the Tent of Meeting day and night for seven days and keep the LORD’s charge so that you will not die, for this is what I have been commanded.”

  47. “Speak to Aaron, his sons, and all the Israelites and tell them this is what the LORD has commanded:
  48. It shall be eaten on the day you sacrifice it, or on the next day; but what remains on the third day must be burned up.
  49. Whoever eats it will bear his iniquity, for he has profaned what is holy to the LORD. That person must be cut off from his people.
  50. Now you may wonder, ‘What will we eat in the seventh year if we do not sow or gather our produce?’
  51. If your brother becomes impoverished and sells some of his property, his nearest of kin may come and redeem what his brother has sold.
  52. But if he cannot obtain enough to repay him, what he sold will remain in possession of the buyer until the Year of Jubilee. In the Jubilee, however, it is to be released, so that he may return to his property.
  53. …then this is what I will do to you: I will bring upon you sudden terror, wasting disease, and fever that will destroy your sight and drain your life. You will sow your seed in vain, because your enemies will eat it.
  54. But if the one making the vow is too poor to pay the valuation, he is to present the person before the priest, who shall set the value according to what the one making the vow can afford.
  55. In order that they may live and not die when they come near the most holy things, do this for them: Aaron and his sons are to go in and assign each man his task and what he is to carry.
  56. This is what you must do to cleanse them: Sprinkle them with the water of purification. Have them shave their whole bodies and wash their clothes, and so purify themselves.
  57. “Wait here until I find out what the LORD commands concerning you,” Moses replied.
  58. See what the land is like and whether its people are strong or weak, few or many.

  64. That night God came to Balaam and said, “Since these men have come to summon you, get up and go with them, but you must only do what I tell you.”

  78. And then I will do to you what I had planned to do to them.”

  88. Do what is right and good in the sight of the LORD, so that it may be well with you and that you may enter and possess the good land that the LORD your God swore to give your fathers,
  89. In the future, when your son asks, “What is the meaning of the decrees and statutes and ordinances that the LORD our God has commanded you?”
  90. Instead, this is what you are to do to them: tear down their altars, smash their sacred pillars, cut down their Asherah poles, and burn their idols in the fire.
  91. But do not be afraid of them. Be sure to remember what the LORD your God did to Pharaoh and all Egypt:
  92. Remember that these forty years the LORD your God led you all the way in the wilderness, so that He might humble you and test you in order to know what was in your heart, whether or not you would keep His commandments.
  93. Then I fell down before the LORD for forty days and forty nights, as I had done the first time. I did not eat bread or drink water because of all the sin you had committed in doing what was evil in the sight of the LORD and provoking Him to anger.

  97. …what He did for you in the wilderness until you reached this place;
  98. …and what He did in the midst of all the Israelites to Dathan and Abiram, the sons of Eliab the Reubenite, when the earth opened its mouth and swallowed them, their households, their tents, and every living thing that belonged to them.
  99. You are not to do as we are doing here today, where everyone does what seems right in his own eyes.
  100. Do not eat it, so that it may go well with you and your children after you, because you will be doing what is right in the eyes of the LORD.
