Temple of Olympian Zeus
The Temple of Olympian Zeus was the name Antiochus Epiphanes gave to the temple in Jerusalem after he turned it into a shrine for Zeus in 168 BC (2 Maccabees 6:2). The Jews were forced to give up their traditional customs and were no longer allowed to obey God’s law. The temple was dishonored through sexual immorality, forced eating of human flesh, and other acts meant to shame the Jewish people.
