Revenge, Revenger

In the Bible, the words “revenge” and “revenger” can refer to carrying out justice for a wrong that has been done. In some passages, a revenger is a family member who has the duty to act after the unlawful killing of a relative. This role is most clearly described in the laws about the avenger of blood.
