Stoning
Stoning was a method of execution in which a person was put to death by being struck with stones. Under the law of Moses, it was the punishment for certain serious offenses (Leviticus 20:2, 27; Deuteronomy 17:2–7). In the New Testament, Stephen became the first Christian martyr when he was stoned for his testimony about Jesus (Acts 7:54–60).
