Thutmose
Thutmose was the name of four pharaohs, or kings, who ruled ancient Egypt:
Thutmose I,
Thutmose II,
Thutmose III, and
Thutmose IV.
They ruled during Egypt’s Eighteenth Dynasty. Some scholars connect one of these kings with the time of Moses or the exodus, but the Bible does not name the pharaoh of the exodus. Scholars disagree about which Egyptian king, if any, should be connected with these events.
Thutmose III became especially well known for his military campaigns and for expanding Egypt’s rule into nearby lands. Egyptian records from his reign also mention places in Canaan and Syria that are important for understanding the world of the Bible.
