Trumpet

A trumpet is a musical instrument sounded by blowing. English versions use the word for two different biblical instruments. The shofar was a ram's horn, sometimes translated "horn," used to sound alarms and mark sacred occasions (Joshua 6:4–5; Leviticus 25:9). The hatsotserah was a straight metal trumpet. Two were made of hammered silver for the tabernacle, and priests blew them to summon the people and to accompany offerings (Numbers 10:1–10). In the New Testament, a trumpet blast signals the coming of Christ (1 Corinthians 15:52).
