λόγος, -ου, ὁ (λέγω)

I. Of that by which the inward thought is expressed, Lat. oratio, sermo, vox, verbum.
1. a word, not in the grammatical sense of a mere name (ἔπος, ὄνομα, ῥῆμα), but a word as embodying a conception or idea: Matthew 8:8, Luke 7:7, 1 Corinthians 14:9, 19, Hebrews 12:19, al.
