nor the Son: This phrase shows that Jesus did not know the exact time. Acts 1:7 suggests the same idea. Because no one knows the day, Jesus told his followers to stay watchful and faithful (see Matthew 24:37–25:46). This statement should discourage anyone from trying to calculate the exact date when our Lord will return.
