I will give you speech and wisdom: God often assured his prophets that he would give them the words to say (Exodus 4:12, 15; Deuteronomy 18:18; Isaiah 50:4; 51:16; Jeremiah 1:9). The disciples of Jesus were to prepare themselves to speak clearly as witnesses (see Colossians 4:5–6; 2 Timothy 2:21; 1 Peter 3:15). They knew that the Holy Spirit would help them respond as powerfully as Jesus had done (Luke 20:20–44).
