Paul explained how Jesus fulfilled the Old Testament hopes for the kingdom of God. This was the main theme of the preaching of Jesus (Mark 1:14–15; see Matthew 4:12–17; Luke 4:14–21, 43). Paul used the Old Testament Scriptures to show that Jesus was the promised Messiah.
