The judgment is against the defendants (the peoples) and in favor of the righteous plaintiff (the psalmist; see Psalm 43:1).
The psalmist, though not free from all sin, is a person of true integrity (see Psalm 15:2; 25:21; 41:12; 78:72; compare Job 1:1, 8; 9:20, 22).
