Israel used the image of Leviathan to represent evil powers that oppose God. Leviathan's death symbolizes the end of evil, Satan, demons, and forces hostile to God (see Isaiah 51:9; Psalms 74:14; 104:7–9, 26; see also the serpent in Genesis 3; Revelation 12; 13; 16:13; 20:2, 10).
