The Hebrew practice of circumcision began with Abraham (Genesis 17:10–14). Over time, this ritual became so linked with being God's chosen people that the Israelites believed it ensured a lasting bond with the Lord. However, physical circumcision is not enough; a person must also be spiritually circumcised—fully turning away from idol worship and dedicating themselves to making the Lord the focus of their life and actions (Romans 2:25–29).
