1 Chronicles 20
The Capture of Rabbah
1In the spring,a at the time when kings march out to war, Joab led out the army and ravaged the land of the Ammonites. He came to Rabbah and besieged it, but David remained in Jerusalem. And Joab attacked Rabbah and demolished it.
1And it happened, at the time of the return of the year, at the time of the going out of the kings, that Joab led out the force of the host and destroyed the land of the sons of Ammon, and he came in and besieged Rabbah. And David stayed at Jerusalem. And Joab defeated Rabbah and overthrew it.
2Then David took the crown from the head of their king.a It was found to weigh a talent of goldb and was set with precious stones, and it was placed on David’s head. And David took a great amount of plunder from the city.
2And David took the crown of their king from off his head, and he found it to weigh a talent of gold, and in it were precious stones, and it was on the head of David. And the plunder of the city he brought out in great abundance.
3David brought out the people who were there and put them to worka with saws, iron picks, and axes. And he did the same to all the Ammonite cities. Then David and all his troops returned to Jerusalem.
3And the people who were in it he brought out, and they sawed with the saws, and with the iron picks, and with the axes. Thus David did to all the cities of the sons of Ammon. And David returned, and all the people, to Jerusalem.
