Notes

According to 6:11–16, it is unwise to value the temporary wealth of this age (James 5:3). It is wiser to gather treasure for the future age by trusting in God, doing good deeds, and showing generosity and love to others (see 1 Timothy 1:5).

The final major part of the letter focuses on Timothy's need to challenge the false teachers. This section mirrors the structure of 1:3–20.
