2 Chronicles 4

The Bronze Altar and Molten Sea

1He made a bronze altar twenty cubits long, twenty cubits wide, and ten cubits high.

1And he made a bronze altar, twenty cubits its length, and twenty cubits its width, and ten cubits its height.

2He also made the Sea of cast metal. It was circular in shape, measuring ten cubits from rim to rim, five cubits in height, and thirty cubits in circumference.

2And he made the molten Sea, ten by the cubit from one brim to the other, round in compass, and five cubits its height, and a line of thirty by the cubit surrounding it all around.

3Below the rim, figures of oxen encircled it, ten per cubit all the way around the Sea, cast in two rows as a part of the Sea.

3And the likeness of oxen was under it encompassing it all around, ten to a cubit, encircling around the Sea. In two rows the oxen were cast in its being cast.

4The Sea stood on twelve oxen, three facing north, three facing west, three facing south, and three facing east. The Sea rested on them, with all their hindquarters toward the center.

4It stood on twelve oxen, three facing north, and three facing west, and three facing south, and three facing east. And the sea was upon them, and all their hindquarters were inward.

5It was a handbreadth thick, and its rim was fashioned like the brim of a cup, like a lily blossom. It could hold three thousand baths.

5And its thickness was a handbreadth, and its lip as the work of the lip of a cup, a lily blossom, taking hold. It contained three thousand baths.

The Ten Basins, Lampstands, and Tables

6He also made ten basins for washing and placed five on the south side and five on the north. The parts of the burnt offering were rinsed in them, but the priests used the Sea for washing.

6And He made ten basins, and he put five on the right side and five on the left, to wash in them; the work of the burnt offering they would wash in them. And the Sea was for the priests to wash in.

7He made ten gold lampstands according to their specifications and placed them in the temple, five on the south side and five on the north.

7And he made ten lampstands of gold according to their ordinance and set them in the temple, five on the right and five on the left.

8Additionally, he made ten tables and placed them in the temple, five on the south side and five on the north. He also made a hundred gold bowls.

8And he made ten tables and placed them in the temple, five on the right and five on the left. And he made a hundred bowls of gold.

The Courts

9He made the courtyard of the priests and the large court with its doors, and he overlaid the doors with bronze.

9And he made the court of the priests, and the great court, and the doors for the court, and their doors he overlaid with bronze.

10He put the Sea on the south side, at the southeast corner.

10And the Sea he set on the right side eastward, over against the south.

Completion of the Bronze Works

11Additionally, Huram made the pots, shovels, and sprinkling bowls.

So Huram finished the work that he had undertaken for King Solomon in the house of God:

11And Huram made the pots and the shovels and the sprinkling bowls. And Huram finished doing the work that he was to do for King Solomon in the house of God:

12the two pillars;

the two bowl-shaped capitals atop the pillars;

the two sets of network covering both bowls of the capitals atop the pillars;

12The two pillars; and the bowls, and the capitals on top of the two pillars; and the two networks covering the two bowls of the capitals that were on top of the pillars;

13the four hundred pomegranates for the two sets of network (two rows of pomegranates for each network covering both the bowl-shaped capitals atop the pillars);

13and the four hundred pomegranates for the two networks (two rows of pomegranates for one network, to cover the two bowls of the capitals that were on the face of the pillars);

14the stands;

the basins on the stands;

14and also he made the carts; and he made the basins on the carts;

15the Sea;

the twelve oxen underneath the Sea;

15the one Sea, and the twelve oxen under it;

16and the pots, shovels, meat forks, and all the other articles.

All these objects that Huram-abi made for King Solomon for the house of the LORD were of polished bronze.

16and the pots, and the shovels, and the forks, and all their articles. Huram-Abi made these for King Solomon for the house of YHWH of polished bronze.

17The king had them cast in clay molds in the plain of the Jordan between Succoth and Zeredah.

17In the plain of the Jordan the king had cast them in the thick soil of the ground between Succoth and between Zeredah.

18Solomon made all these articles in such great abundance that the weight of the bronze could not be determined.

18And Solomon had made all these articles in such great abundance that the weight of the bronze was not to be sought out.

Completion of the Gold Furnishings

19Solomon also made all the furnishings for the house of God:

the golden altar;

the tables on which was placed the Bread of the Presence;

19And Solomon made all the furnishings for the house of God: The altar of gold; and the tables, and on them the Bread of the Presence;

20the lampstands of pure gold and their lamps, to burn in front of the inner sanctuary as prescribed;

20and the lampstands, and their lamps to burn according to the ordinance in front of the inner sanctuary, of pure gold;

21the flowers, lamps, and tongs of gold—of purest gold;

21and the flowers, and the lamps, and the tongs of gold—it was the perfection of gold;

22the wick trimmers, sprinkling bowls, ladles, and censers of pure gold;

and the gold doors of the temple: the inner doors to the Most Holy Place as well as the doors of the main hall.

22and the trimmers, and the bowls, and the ladles, and the firepans, of refined gold; and the opening of the house, its inner doors to the Holy of Holies, and the doors of the main hall of the temple, of gold.
