But every man’s servant that is bought for money, when thou hast circumcised him, then shall he eat thereof.

Notes

These extra instructions for celebrating Passover mainly refer to outsiders and foreigners (12:43; 12:48). The presence of non-Israelite groups in the community might have led to these rules (12:38). The main point was whether the person was willing to fully join Israel and obey the Lord by being circumcised.
