Notes
God promised to give his people a new and better ruler. He would also make a covenant of peace with them.
At that time, they were suffering from wild animals, drought, famine, and war. These troubles were the result of breaking the covenant God made at Mount Sinai (see Leviticus 26:14–35).
From then on, they would live in safety. They would camp without fear. God would send the rain they needed so the land would produce crops. They would enjoy peace and the blessings of the covenant (see Leviticus 26:4–13).
These chapters describe the blessings that would come when the Lord returned to his people.
He would be their shepherd. He would give them good and faithful leadership (Ezekiel 34).
He would make the land fruitful again. In this way, he would show that his name is honored and holy (Ezekiel 35–36).
He would bring his people back to life and make them one nation again (Ezekiel 37).
