Ezekiel 45

Consecration of the Land

1“When you divide the land by lot as an inheritance, you are to set aside a portion for the LORD, a holy portion of the land 25,000 cubits long and 20,000 cubits wide. This entire tract of land will be holy.

1“ And in your allotting the land as an inheritance, you shall set apart a contribution to YHWH, a holy portion of the land; its length shall be five and twenty thousand, and the width twenty thousand. It is holy in all its borders all around.

2Within this area there is to be a section for the sanctuary 500 cubits square, with 50 cubits around it for open land.

2There shall be from this for the sanctuary five hundred by five hundred, a square plot, around, with fifty cubits open space for it all around.

3From this holy portion, you are to measure off a length of 25,000 cubits and a width of 10,000 cubits, and in it will be the sanctuary, the Most Holy Place.

3And from this measure, you shall measure a length of five and twenty thousand, and a width of ten thousand; and in it will be the sanctuary, the Holy of Holies.

4It will be a holy portion of the land to be used by the priests who minister in the sanctuary, who draw near to minister before the LORD. It will be a place for their houses, as well as a holy area for the sanctuary.

4It is a holy portion of the land; it is for the priests ministering in the sanctuary, who draw near to minister to YHWH; and it shall be unto them a place for houses and a holy place for the sanctuary.

5An adjacent area 25,000 cubits long and 10,000 cubits wide shall belong to the Levites who minister in the temple; it will be their possession for towns in which to live.

5And five and twenty thousand long, and ten thousand wide, shall be unto the Levites ministering in the temple, as a possession for them, twenty towns in which to live.

6As the property of the city, you are to set aside an area 5,000 cubits wide and 25,000 cubits long, adjacent to the holy district. It will belong to the whole house of Israel.

6And as the possession of the city you shall give five thousand wide, with a length of five and twenty thousand, adjacent to the portion of the holy portion; it shall be unto all of the house of Israel.

The Prince’s Portion

7Now the prince will have the area bordering each side of the area formed by the holy district and the property of the city, extending westward from the western side and eastward from the eastern side, running lengthwise from the western boundary to the eastern boundary and parallel to one of the tribal portions.

7And for the prince, on this side and on this side of the portion of the holy area, and of the possession of the city, toward the faces of the portion of the holy area, and toward the faces of the property of the city, from the west side westward, from the east side eastward; and the length is parallel to one of the portions, from the west border to the east border

8This land will be his possession in Israel.

And My princes will no longer oppress My people, but will give the rest of the land to the house of Israel according to their tribes.

8of the land. It will be unto him as a possession in Israel. And My princes will not oppress My people anymore, and the land they will give to the house of Israel according to their tribes.

9For this is what the Lord GOD says: ‘Enough, O princes of Israel! Cease your violence and oppression, and do what is just and right. Stop dispossessing My people, declares the Lord GOD.’

9Thus says the Lord YHWH: ‘Enough to you, O princes of Israel, turn aside violence and destruction and do justice and righteousness. Stop your evictions upon My people, a declaration of the Lord YHWH.’

Honest Scales

10You must use honest scales, a just ephah, and a just bath.

10Righteous scales and a righteous ephah and a righteous bath shall be unto you.

11The ephah and the bath shall be the same quantity so that the bath will contain a tenth of a homer, and the ephah a tenth of a homer; the homer will be the standard measure for both.

11The ephah and the bath shall be of one measure, the bath to bear a tenth of a homer, and the ephah a tenth of a homer. Their measure will be according to the homer.

12The shekel will consist of twenty gerahs. Twenty shekels plus twenty-five shekels plus fifteen shekels will equal one mina.

12And the shekel shall be twenty gerahs; twenty shekels, five and twenty shekels, ten and five shekels, will be unto you the mina.

Offerings and Feasts

13This is the contribution you are to offer: a sixth of an ephah from each homer of wheat, and a sixth of an ephah from each homer of barley.

13This is the contribution that you shall lift up: A sixth of an ephah from a homer of wheat, and a sixth of an ephah from a homer of barley.

14The prescribed portion of oil, measured by the bath, is a tenth of a bath from each cor (a cor consists of ten baths or one homer, since ten baths are equivalent to a homer).

14And the ordinance for the oil, the bath of oil, is a tenth of a bath from each kor (a homer is ten baths, for ten baths are a homer);

15And one sheep shall be given from each flock of two hundred from the well-watered pastures of Israel. These are for the grain offerings, burnt offerings, and peace offerings, to make atonement for the people, declares the Lord GOD.

15and will be one lamb from the flock, from two hundred, from the watering places of Israel, for each grain offering, and burnt offering, and peace offering, to make atonement upon them, a declaration of the Lord YHWH.

16All the people of the land must participate in this contribution for the prince in Israel.

16All the people of the land shall be toward this contribution for the prince in Israel.

17And it shall be the prince’s part to provide the burnt offerings, grain offerings, and drink offerings for the feasts, New Moons, and Sabbaths—for all the appointed feasts of the house of Israel. He will provide the sin offerings, grain offerings, burnt offerings, and peace offerings to make atonement for the house of Israel.

17And concerning the prince, it shall be the burnt offerings and the grain offering and the drink offering, at the feasts and the New Moons and the Sabbaths and at all the appointed feasts of the house of Israel; he shall prepare the sin offering, and the grain offering, and the burnt offering, and the peace offerings, to make atonement for the house of Israel.

18This is what the Lord GOD says: ‘On the first day of the first month you are to take a young bull without blemish and purify the sanctuary.

18Thus says the Lord YHWH: ‘In the first month, on the first of the month, you shall take a bull, a son of the herd, unblemished, and you shall cleanse from sin the sanctuary.

19And the priest is to take some of the blood from the sin offering and put it on the doorposts of the temple, on the four corners of the ledge of the altar, and on the gateposts of the inner court.

19And the priest shall take from the blood of the sin offering, and put it onto the doorposts of the temple, and onto the four corners of the ledge of the altar, and onto the doorposts of the gate of the inner court.

20You must do the same thing on the seventh day of the month for anyone who strays unintentionally or in ignorance. In this way you will make atonement for the temple.

20And so you shall do on the seventh of the month, for each man who errs and is ignorant, and you will make atonement for the temple.

21On the fourteenth day of the first month you are to observe the Passover, a feast of seven days, during which unleavened bread shall be eaten.

21In the first month, on the fourteenth day of the month, will be for you the Passover, a feast of seven days; unleavened bread shall be eaten.

22On that day the prince shall provide a bull as a sin offering for himself and for all the people of the land.

22And the prince shall prepare on that day, for himself and for all the people of the land, a bull as a sin offering.

23Each day during the seven days of the feast, he shall provide seven bulls and seven rams without blemish as a burnt offering to the LORD, along with a male goat for a sin offering.

23And on the seven days of the feast he shall prepare a burnt offering to YHWH, seven bulls and seven rams unblemished day by day—seven days—and a sin offering, a kid of the goats, day by day.

24He shall also provide as a grain offering an ephah for each bull and an ephah for each ram, along with a hin of olive oil for each ephah of grain.

24And a grain offering of one ephah for each bull, and one ephah for each ram he shall prepare, and a hin of oil for each ephah.

25During the seven days of the feast that begins on the fifteenth day of the seventh month, he is to make the same provision for sin offerings, burnt offerings, grain offerings, and oil.’

25In the seventh month, on the fifteenth day of the month, during the feast, he shall do like these seven days, for the sin offering, for the burnt offering, and the grain offering, and the oil.’
