And the prince shall enter by the way of the porch of that gate without, and shall stand by the post of the gate, and the priests shall prepare his burnt offering and his peace offerings, and he shall worship at the threshold of the gate: then he shall go forth; but the gate shall not be shut until the evening.

Notes

The prince had the special privilege of entering the eastern gateway to the inner courtyard up to the entry room for worship. This showed that God saw him as more important than the common people. However, he still needed the priests to mediate for him to stand in God's presence.

Ezekiel described the prince's duties during special celebrations, including Sabbaths and new moon events. The prince represented the people in worship. He joined them in a procession through the temple and had the unique ability to approach the sacred area for them.
