Thus shall they be unto thee with whom thou hast laboured, even thy merchants, from thy youth: they shall wander every one to his quarter; none shall save thee.

Thus they have become to you—those with whom you have labored and traded from youth! Each man in his direction, they go astray; none can save you.

Notes

When disaster struck, Babylon turned to occult practices for help, but found none.

We can draw two conclusions from the earlier evidence that the Lord alone is God:

  1. Babylon's great pride is foolish (Isaiah 47:1–15);

  2. Israel should listen to the word of the Lord (Isaiah 48:1–22).
