Behold, all ye that kindle a fire, that compass yourselves about with sparks: walk in the light of your fire, and in the sparks that ye have kindled. This shall ye have of mine hand; ye shall lie down in sorrow.
Literal
Behold, all of you kindling a fire, girding on firebrands—walk in the light of your fire, and of the firebrands you have kindled! This is for you from My hand; you will lie down in a place of torment.

Ecce vos omnes accendentes ignem, accincti flammis: ambulate in lumine ignis vestri, et in flammis quas succendistis; de manu mea factum est hoc vobis: in doloribus dormietis.

Notes

all you who kindle a fire: Spiritually complacent people do not respond to God. They may feel comfortable and secure now, but they will soon experience great suffering (see Isaiah 66:24).

This is a call for response to the servant’s ministry.

This is the third of four servant songs (see study note on Isaiah 42:1–4). The loyal and suffering servant represents an ideal Israel. This image came true in Jesus Christ.
