Notes
At funerals in Hebrew society, people traditionally mourned and wore black (compare Isaiah 5:30; 50:3). The Lord had judged the people guilty and promised to keep his word (Jeremiah 5:10; 30:11, 24; Isaiah 5:30; 46:10–11).
