John 5
The Pool of Bethesda
7“Sir,” the invalid replied, “I have no one to help me into the pool when the water is stirred. While I am on my way, someone else goes in before me.”
7The one ailing answered Him, “Sir, I do not have a man, that when the water might be stirred, he might put me into the pool; and while I am going, another goes down before me.”
14Afterward, Jesus found the man at the temple and said to him, “See, you have been made well. Stop sinning, or something worse may happen to you.”
14After these things Jesus finds him in the temple and said to him, “Behold, you have become well. Sin no more, so that something worse might not happen to you.”
The Father and the Son
18Because of this, the Jews tried all the harder to kill Him. Not only was He breaking the Sabbath, but He was even calling God His own Father, making Himself equal with God.
18Therefore because of this, the Jews were seeking more to kill Him, because not only was He breaking the Sabbath, but He was also calling God His own Father, making Himself equal to God.
19So Jesus replied, “Truly, truly, I tell you, the Son can do nothing by Himself, unless He sees the Father doing it. For whatever the Father does, the Son also does.
19Therefore Jesus answered and was saying to them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, the Son is able to do nothing from Himself, if not anything He may see the Father doing; for whatever He may do, these things the Son also does likewise.
24Truly, truly, I tell you, whoever hears My word and believes Him who sent Me has eternal life and will not come under judgment. Indeed, he has crossed over from death to life.
24Truly, truly, I say to you that the one hearing My word and believing the One having sent Me has eternal life and does not come into judgment, but has passed out of death into life.
30I can do nothing by Myself; I judge only as I hear. And My judgment is just, because I do not seek My own will, but the will of Him who sent Me.
30I am able to do nothing from Myself. Just as I hear, I judge; and My judgment is just, because I do not seek My will, but the will of the One having sent Me.
Testimonies about Jesus
36But I have testimony more substantial than that of John. For the works that the Father has given Me to accomplish—the very works I am doing—testify about Me that the Father has sent Me.
36But I have testimony greater than that of John. For the works that the Father has given to Me so that I should complete them, the same works that I do, testify concerning Me that the Father has sent Me.
