1Bless the LORD, O my soul!
O LORD my God, You are very great;
You are clothed with splendor and majesty.
1O my soul, bless YHWH! O YHWH my God, You are very great; with honor and majesty You are clothed.
2He wraps Himself in light as with a garment;
He stretches out the heavens like a tent,
2Covering Himself with light as a garment, stretching out the heavens like a curtain,
3laying the beams of His chambers
in the waters above,
making the clouds His chariot,
walking on the wings of the wind.
3the One laying the beams in the waters of His upper chambers, the One making the clouds His chariot, the One walking on the wings of the wind,
4He makes the winds His messengers,
flames of fire His servants.a
4making the winds His messengers, His servants flaming fire.
5He set the earth on its foundations,
never to be moved.
5He set the earth upon its foundations; it should not be shaken forever and ever.
6You covered it with the deep like a garment;
the waters stood above the mountains.
6The deep, as with a garment You covered it; upon the mountains the waters were standing.
7At Your rebuke the waters fled;
at the sound of Your thunder they hurried away—
7From Your rebuke they fled; from the voice of Your thunder they hurried away.
8the mountains rose and the valleys sank
to the place You assigned for them—
8Upon the mountains, the valleys sank down, to the place that You established for them.
9You set a boundary they cannot cross,
that they may never again cover the earth.
9You have set a boundary that they may not cross over; they may never return to cover the earth.
10He sends forth springs in the valleys;
they flow between the mountains.
10He sends the springs into the valleys; they flow between the hills.
11They give drink to every beast of the field;
the wild donkeys quench their thirst.
11They give drink to every beast of the field; the wild donkeys break their thirst.
12The birds of the air nest beside the springs;
they sing among the branches.
12Nearby them the birds of the heavens are dwelling; from between the branches they give forth a voice.
13He waters the mountains from His chambers;
the earth is satisfied by the fruit of His works.
13Watering the hills from His upper chambers; with the fruit of Your works the earth is satisfied—
14He makes the grass grow for the livestock
and provides crops for man to cultivate,
bringing forth food from the earth:
14causing the grass to sprout for the cattle, and vegetation for the service of man, to bring forth food from the earth,
15wine that gladdens the heart of man,
oil that makes his face to shine,
and bread that sustains his heart.
15and wine makes glad the heart of man, to make his face shine from oil, and bread supports the heart of man.
16The trees of the LORD have their fill,
the cedars of Lebanon that He planted,
16The trees of YHWH are satisfied, the cedars of Lebanon that He planted,
17where the birds build their nests;
the stork makes her home in the cypresses.a
17where in the birds make their nests; the stork—the cypresses are her house.
18The high mountains are for the wild goats,
the cliffs a refuge for the rock badgers.a
18The high mountains are for the wild goats; the crags a refuge for the rock badgers.
19He made the moon to mark the seasons;
the sun knows when to set.
19He made the moon for appointed times; the sun knows its entrance.
20You bring darkness, and it becomes night,
when all the beasts of the forest prowl.
20You make darkness, and it becomes night; in it all the living things of the forest creep about.
21The young lions roar for their prey
and seek their food from God.
21The young lions roar for the prey and seek their food from God.
22The sun rises, and they withdraw;
they lie down in their dens.
22The sun rises, they are gathered; and in their dens they stretch out.
23Man goes forth to his work
and to his labor until evening.
23Man goes out to his work, and to his labor until the evening.
24How many are Your works, O LORD!
In wisdom You have made them all;
the earth is full of Your creatures.
24How many are Your works, O YHWH! All of them You have made in wisdom; the earth is full of Your creatures.
25Here is the sea, vast and wide,
teeming with creatures beyond number,
living things both great and small.
25This is the sea, great and wide—in it are teeming things, and without number, living things small with the great.
26There the ships pass,
and Leviathan, which You formed to frolic there.
26There the ships go about, and Leviathan, which You formed to play in it.
27All creatures look to You
to give them their food in due season.
27All of them look to You, to give their food, in its season.
28When You give it to them,
they gather it up;
when You open Your hand,
they are satisfied with good things.
28You give to them, and they gather in; You open Your hand, and they are satisfied with good.
29When You hide Your face,
they are terrified;
when You take away their breath,
they die and return to dust.
29You hide Your face—they are troubled; You gather their spirit—they die, and to their dust they return.
30When You send Your Spirit,a
they are created,
and You renew
the face of the earth.
30You send forth Your Spirit—they are created, and You renew the face of the earth.
31May the glory of the LORD endure forever;
may the LORD rejoice in His works.
31May the glory of YHWH be forever; may YHWH rejoice in His works—
32He looks on the earth,
and it trembles;
He touches the mountains,
and they smolder.
32the One looking on the earth, and it trembles; He touches the mountains, and they smoke.
33I will sing to the LORD all my life;
I will sing praise to my God while I have my being.
33I will sing to YHWH during my life; I will sing praise to my God while I live!
34May my meditation be pleasing to Him,
for I rejoice in the LORD.
34May my melody be pleasing to Him; I rejoice in YHWH.
35May sinners vanish from the earth
and the wicked be no more.
Bless the LORD, O my soul.
Hallelujah!a
35May the sinful ones be consumed from the earth, and the wicked shall not be anymore! O my soul, bless YHWH! Hallelu YAH!
