Psalm 11

In the LORD I Take Refuge

1For the choirmaster. Of David.

In the LORD I take refuge.

How then can you say to me:

“Flee like a bird to your mountain!

1For the one directing. Of David. In YHWH I have taken refuge. How can you say to my soul, “Flee to your mountain a bird!

2For behold, the wicked bend their bows.

They set their arrow on the string

to shoot from the shadows at the upright in heart.

2For, behold, the wicked tread the bow; they make ready their arrow upon the string, to shoot in the darkness at those upright in heart.

3If the foundations are destroyed,

what can the righteous do?”

3If the foundations are thrown down, the righteous—what can he do?”

4The LORD is in His holy temple;

the LORD is on His heavenly throne.

His eyes are watching closely;

they examine the sons of men.

4YHWH is is in His holy temple; YHWH—in the heavens is His throne. His eyes are watching, His eyelids examine the sons of man.

5The LORD tests the righteous and the wicked;

His soul hates the lover of violence.

5YHWH tests the righteous, and His soul hates the wicked one and the lover of violence.

6On the wicked He will rain down fiery coals and sulfur;

a scorching wind will be their portion.

6May He rain down coals upon the wicked, fire and brimstone; and a burning wind is the portion of their cup.

7For the LORD is righteous; He loves justice.

The upright will see His face.

7For YHWH is righteous; He loves righteousness; the upright one will see His face.
