1A song of ascents.
Those who trust in the LORD are like Mount Zion.
It cannot be moved; it abides forever.
1A Song of the Ascents. Those trusting in YHWH are like Mount Zion—it cannot be shaken; it abides forever.
2As the mountains surround Jerusalem,
so the LORD surrounds His people,
both now and forevermore.
2Jerusalem, the mountains surround her, and YHWH surrounds His people, from now even to forever.
3For the scepter of the wicked will not rest
upon the land allotted to the righteous,
so that the righteous will not put forth
their hands to injustice.
3For the rod of the wicked shall not rest upon the lot of the righteous, so that the righteous do not stretch out their hands to injustice.
4Do good, O LORD, to those who are good,
and to the upright in heart.
4Do good, O YHWH, to the good, and to the upright in their hearts!
5But those who turn to crooked ways
the LORD will banish with the evildoers.
Peace be upon Israel.
5And those turning to their crooked ways, YHWH will lead them away with the workers of iniquity! Peace be upon Israel!
