Come Quickly to Me

¹A Psalm of David.

I call upon You, O LORD; come quickly to me.

Hear my voice when I call to You.

¹A Psalm of David. O YHWH, I call to You—hurry to me; give ear to my voice in my calling out to You!

²May my prayer be set before You like incense;

my uplifted hands, like the evening offering.

²Let my prayer be established like incense before Your face, and the lifting of my hands like the offering of the evening.

³Set a guard, O LORD, over my mouth;

keep watch at the door of my lips.

³Set, O YHWH, a guard for my mouth; keep watch over the door of my lips.

⁴Do not let my heart be drawn to any evil thing

or take part in works of wickedness

with men who do iniquity;

let me not feast on their delicacies.

⁴Do not make my heart bend to an evil thing, to do works in wickedness, with men working iniquity; never shall I eat of their delicacies!

⁵Let the righteous man strike me;

let his rebuke be an act of loving devotion.

It is oil for my head; let me not refuse it.

For my prayer is ever against the deeds of the wicked.

⁵Let a righteous one strike me, and let him rebuke me in loving devotion; it is oil for my head—let not my head refuse it! For still my prayer is against their evil deeds.

⁶When their rulers are thrown down from the cliffs,

the people will listen to my words,

for they are pleasant.

⁶Let their judges be released into the hands of the rock, and let them hear my words, for they are pleasant!

⁷As when one plows and breaks up the soil,

so our bones have been scattered at the mouth of Sheol.

⁷Like the tilling and ripping up of the land, our bones are scattered at the mouth of Sheol.

⁸But my eyes are fixed on You,

O GOD the Lord.

In You I seek refuge;

do not leave my soul defenseless.^a

⁸Yet unto You, O YHWH, O Lord, are my eyes; in You I take refuge—do not lay bare my soul!

⁹Keep me from the snares they have laid for me,

and from the lures of evildoers.

⁹Keep me from the snares they have laid for me, and from the lures of the workers of iniquity!

¹⁰Let the wicked fall into their own nets,

while I pass by in safety.

¹⁰Let the wicked fall into their nets together, until I pass over.
