Psalm 144

Blessed Be the LORD, My Rock

1Of David.

Blessed be the LORD, my Rock,

who trains my hands for war,

my fingers for battle.

1Of David. Blessed be YHWH, my Rock, the One training my hands for war, my fingers for battle—

2He is my steadfast love and my fortress,

my stronghold and my deliverer.

He is my shield, in whom I take refuge,

who subdues peoples under me.

2my steadfast One and my fortress, my tower and my deliverer—for me; my shield in whom I take refuge, the One subduing the peoples under me.

3O LORD, what is man, that You regard him,

the son of man that You think of him?

3O YHWH, what is man that You take knowledge of him, the son of man that You think of him?

4Man is like a breath;

his days are like a passing shadow.

4Man is like a breath; his days are like a shadow passing by.

5Part Your heavens, O LORD, and come down;

touch the mountains, that they may smoke.

5O YHWH, bend Your heavens and come down! Touch the mountains, that they may smoke!

6Flash forth Your lightning and scatter them;

shoot Your arrows and rout them.

6Flash lightning and scatter them; send forth Your arrows and rout them!

7Reach down from on high;

set me free and rescue me

from the deep waters,

from the grasp of foreigners,

7Stretch out Your hand from on high; release me and deliver me from the great waters, from the hand of sons of a foreigner,

8whose mouths speak falsehood,

whose right hands are deceitful.

8whose mouth has spoken emptiness, and their right hand is a right hand of falsehood.

9I will sing to You a new song, O God;

on a harp of ten strings I will make music to You—

9O God, let me sing a new song to You; on a harp of ten strings I will make music to You—

10to Him who gives victory to kings,

who frees His servant David from the deadly sword.

10the One giving salvation to kings, the One releasing David His servant from the sword of evil.

11Set me free and rescue me

from the grasp of foreigners,

whose mouths speak falsehood,

whose right hands are deceitful.

11May You release me and snatch me from the hand of the sons of a foreigner, whose mouth speaks emptiness, and their right hand is a right hand of deception.

12Then our sons will be like plants

nurtured in their youth,

our daughters like corner pillars

carved to adorn a palace.

12That our sons may be as plants grown up in their youth, our daughters like corner pillars, carved for the pattern of the palace.

13Our storehouses will be full,

supplying all manner of produce;

our flocks will bring forth thousands,

tens of thousands in our fields.

13Our granaries full, bringing out from kind to kind, our flocks producing thousands, being myriads in our fields,

14Our oxen will bear great loads.

There will be no breach in the walls,

no going into captivity,

and no cry of lament in our streets.

14our oxen carrying. Let there be no breach, and no going forth, and no an outcry in our wide streets.

15Blessed are the people of whom this is so;

blessed are the people whose God is the LORD.

15Blessed are the people for whom is thus; blessed are the people for whom YHWH is God!
