Psalm 27

The LORD Is My Salvation

1Of David.

The LORD is my light and my salvation—

whom shall I fear?

The LORD is the stronghold of my life—

whom shall I dread?

1Of David. YHWH is my light and my salvation—of whom shall I be afraid? YHWH is the strength of my life—of whom shall I be in dread?

2When the wicked came upon me to devour my flesh,

my enemies and foes stumbled and fell.

2In the coming near of the wicked against me, for the eating of my flesh, my adversaries and my enemies to me, they stumble and fall.

3Though an army encamps around me,

my heart will not fear;

though a war breaks out against me,

I will keep my trust.

3Though a host may encamp against me, my heart will not fear; though war should rise up against me, in this I will keep my trust.

4One thing I have asked of the LORD;

this is what I desire:

to dwell in the house of the LORD

all the days of my life,

to gaze on the beauty of the LORD

and seek Him in His temple.

4One thing I have asked from YHWH—it do I seek—that I may dwell in the house of YHWH all the days of my life, to look on the beauty of YHWH, and to inquire in His temple.

5For in the day of trouble

He will hide me in His shelter;

He will conceal me under the cover of His tent;

He will set me high upon a rock.

5For He will hide me in His shelter in the day of evil; He will conceal me under the cover of His tent; upon a rock He will set me high.

6Then my head will be held high

above my enemies around me.

At His tabernacle I will offer sacrifices with shouts of joy;

I will sing and make music to the LORD.

6And now my head will be held high over my enemies all around me, and I will offer in His tent sacrifices of shouting; I will sing and make music to YHWH.

7Hear, O LORD, my voice when I call;

be merciful and answer me.

7Hear, O YHWH, my voice when I call, and be merciful to me and answer me.

8My heart said, “Seek His face.”

Your face, O LORD, I will seek.

8You have said to my heart “Seek My face.” Your face, O YHWH, I will seek.

9Hide not Your face from me,

nor turn away Your servant in anger.

You have been my helper;

do not leave me or forsake me,

O God of my salvation.

9Do not hide Your face from me; do not stretch Your servant away in anger! You have been my help—do not leave me and do not forsake me, O God of my salvation.

10Though my father and mother forsake me,

the LORD will receive me.

10Though my father and my mother have forsaken me, yet YHWH will gather me in.

11Teach me Your way, O LORD,

and lead me on a level path,

because of my oppressors.

11Teach me Your way, O YHWH, and lead me on a level path, on account of my enemies.

12Do not hand me over to the will of my foes,

for false witnesses rise up against me,

breathing out violence.

12Do not give me up to the desires of my adversaries, for false witnesses have risen against me, and they breathe out violence.

13Still I am certain to see

the goodness of the LORD

in the land of the living.

13Still I believed to look on the goodness of YHWH in the land of the living.

14Wait patiently for the LORD;

be strong and courageous.

Wait patiently for the LORD!

14Wait for YHWH; be strong and let your heart be courageous. And wait for YHWH!
