Psalm 30

You Turned My Mourning into Dancing

1A Psalm. A song for the dedication of the temple. Of David.

I will exalt You, O LORD,

for You have lifted me up

and have not allowed my foes

to rejoice over me.

1A Psalm. A song for the dedication of the house of David. I will exalt You, O YHWH, for You have drawn me up, and You did not let my enemies rejoice over me.

2O LORD my God, I cried to You for help,

and You healed me.

2O YHWH my God, I cried for help to You, and You healed me.

3O LORD, You pulled me up from Sheol;

You spared me from descending into the Pit.

3O YHWH, You have brought up my soul from Sheol; from my going down to the Pit, You have kept me alive.

4Sing to the LORD, O you His saints,

and praise His holy name.

4Make music to YHWH, His faithful ones, and praise His holy name.

5For His anger is fleeting,

but His favor lasts a lifetime.

Weeping may stay the night,

but joy comes in the morning.

5For a moment is His anger; for a lifetime is His favor. In the night lodges weeping, and in the morning, joy.

6In prosperity I said,

“I will never be shaken.”

6And I said in my prosperity, “I will not be shaken forever.”

7O LORD, You favored me;

You made my mountain stand strong.

When You hid Your face,

I was dismayed.

7O YHWH, by Your favor You made my mountain stand strong; You have hidden Your face—I was dismayed.

8To You, O LORD, I called,

and I begged my Lord for mercy:

8To You, O YHWH, I called out, and to my Lord I made supplication.

9“What gain is there in my bloodshed,

in my descent to the Pit?

Will the dust praise You?

Will it proclaim Your faithfulness?

9“What profit is in my blood, in my going down to the Pit? Will the dust confess You? Will it declare Your truth?

10Hear me, O LORD, and have mercy;

O LORD, be my helper.”

10Hear, O YHWH, and have mercy on me; O YHWH, be the One giving help to me.”

11You turned my mourning into dancing;

You peeled off my sackcloth and clothed me with joy,

11You have turned my mourning to dancing for me; You have opened my sackcloth and clothed me with gladness,

12that my heart may sing Your praises and not be silent.

O LORD my God, I will give thanks forever.

12so that my glory will sing praise to you, and not be silent. O YHWH, my God, I will give thanks to You forever.
