Psalm 32

The Joy of Forgiveness

1Of David. A Maskil.

Blessed is he whose transgressions are forgiven,

whose sins are covered.

1Of David. A Maskil. Blessed is he with transgression lifted, with sin is covered.

2Blessed is the man

whose iniquity the LORD does not count against him,

in whose spirit there is no deceit.

2Blessed is the man for whom YHWH does not reckon iniquity, and in his spirit is no deceit.

3When I kept silent, my bones became brittle

from my groaning all day long.

3When I remained silent, my bones were worn out by my groaning all the day.

4For day and night

Your hand was heavy upon me;

my strength was drained

as in the summer heat.

Selah

4For day and night Your hand was heavy upon me; my juice was overturned, as in the drought of summer. Selah

5Then I acknowledged my sin to You

and did not hide my iniquity.

I said, “I will confess my transgressions to the LORD,”

and You forgave the guilt of my sin.

Selah

5I made known to You my sin, and my iniquity I did not hide; I said, “I will make confession over my transgressions to YHWH,” and You forgave the guilt of my sin. Selah

6Therefore let all the godly pray to You

while You may be found.

Surely when great waters rise,

they will not come near.

6upon thus, let every godly one pray to You, in a time to find; even with a flood of great waters toward him, they shall not touch him.

7You are my hiding place.

You protect me from trouble;

You surround me with songs of deliverance.

Selah

7You are a hiding place unto me; from distress you keep me; with shouts of deliverance, You will surround me. Selah

8I will instruct you and teach you the way you should go;

I will give you counsel and watch over you.

8I will instruct you and direct you in the way that you should go; with My eye I will give counsel concerning you.

9Do not be like the horse or mule,

which have no understanding;

they must be controlled with bit and bridle

to make them come to you.

9You should not be like a horse, like a mule without understanding, with bit and bridle to curb its ornaments, that there is no coming near to you.

10Many are the sorrows of the wicked,

but loving devotion surrounds him who trusts in the LORD.

10Many are the pains of the wicked, and the one trusting in YHWH, loving devotion shall surround him.

11Be glad in the LORD and rejoice, O righteous ones;

shout for joy, all you upright in heart.

11Be glad in YHWH and rejoice, O righteous ones, and shout for joy, all upright of heart!
