Psalm 34

Taste and See That the LORD Is Good

1Of David, when he pretended to be insane before Abimelech, so that the king drove him away.

I will bless the LORD at all times;

His praise will always be on my lips.

1Of David, in his changing his behavior before Abimelech, and he drove him off, and he went. I will bless YHWH at every time; His praise is continually in my mouth.

2My soul boasts in the LORD;

let the oppressed hear and rejoice.

2In YHWH my soul boasts; let the humble hear and be glad.

3Magnify the LORD with me;

let us exalt His name together.

3Magnify YHWH with me, and let us exalt His name together.

4I sought the LORD, and He answered me;

He delivered me from all my fears.

4I sought YHWH, and He answered me, and He snatched me up from all my fears.

5Those who look to Him are radiant with joy;

their faces shall never be ashamed.

5They looked toward Him, and they shone, and their faces were not ashamed.

6This poor man called out, and the LORD heard him;

He saved him from all his troubles.

6This poor one called out, and YHWH heard, and from all his troubles He saved him.

7The angel of the LORD encamps around those who fear Him,

and he delivers them.

7The angel of YHWH encamps all around those who fear Him, and he rescues them.

8Taste and see that the LORD is good;

blessed is the man who takes refuge in Him!

8Taste and see that YHWH is good; blessed is the man who takes refuge in Him.

9Fear the LORD, you His saints,

for those who fear Him lack nothing.

9Fear YHWH, His holy ones, for There is no lack for those fearing Him.

10Young lions go lacking and hungry,

but those who seek the LORD lack no good thing.

10The young lions are in want and are hungry, and those seeking YHWH shall not lack any good thing.

11Come, children, listen to me;

I will teach you the fear of the LORD.

11Come, my sons, listen to me; the fear of YHWH I will teach you.

12Who is the man who delights in life,

who desires to see good days?

12Who is the man desiring life, loving days, that he may see good?

13Keep your tongue from evil

and your lips from deceitful speech.

13Keep your tongue from evil and your lips from speaking deceit.

14Turn away from evil and do good;

seek peace and pursue it.

14Turn away from evil and do good; seek peace and pursue it.

15The eyes of the LORD are on the righteous,

and His ears are inclined to their cry.

15The eyes of YHWH are toward the righteous, and His ears are inclined to their cry.

16But the face of the LORD is against those who do evil,

to wipe out all memory of them from the earth.

16The face of YHWH is against those doing evil, to cut off from the earth their memory.

17The righteous cry out, and the LORD hears;

He delivers them from all their troubles.

17They cry out, and YHWH hears, and He delivers them from all their troubles.

18The LORD is near to the brokenhearted;

He saves the contrite in spirit.

18Near is YHWH to the broken of heart, and He saves those crushed in spirit.

19Many are the afflictions of the righteous,

but the LORD delivers him from them all.

19Many are are the afflictions of a righteous one, but from them all YHWH delivers him.

20He protects all his bones;

not one of them will be broken.

20He guards all his bones; not one of them is broken.

21Evil will slay the wicked,

and the haters of the righteous will be condemned.

21Evil will kill the wicked, and those hating a righteous one will be held guilty.

22The LORD redeems His servants,

and none who take refuge in Him will be condemned.

22YHWH redeems the soul of His servants, and not any of those taking refuge in Him will be condemned.
