Psalm 54

Save Me by Your Name

¹For the one directing. With stringed instruments. A Maskil of David, at the coming of the Ziphites, when they said to Saul, “Is not David hiding himself with us?” O God, by Your name save me, and by Your might defend me!

²O God, hear my prayer, give ear to the words of my mouth.

³For strangers have risen up against me, and terrible ones have sought my soul; they have not put God before them. Selah

⁴behold, God is the One giving help to me; the Lord is with those upholding my soul.

⁵He will return the evil to my enemies—in Your faithfulness put an end to them!

⁶With a freewill offering I will sacrifice to You; I will give thanks to Your name, O YHWH, for it is good.

⁷For from all distress He has delivered me, and on my enemies my eye has looked.
