Psalm 7

I Take Refuge in You

1A Shiggaion of David, which he sang to the LORD concerning the words of Cush, a Benjamite.

O LORD my God, I take refuge in You;

save me and deliver me from all my pursuers,

1A Shiggaion of David, which he sang to YHWH, concerning the words of Cush, the Benjamite. O YHWH my God, in You I have taken refuge; keep me safe from all those pursuing me, and deliver me,

2or they will shred my soul like a lion

and tear me to pieces with no one to rescue me.

2lest they tear my soul like a lion, tearing apart, and there is no one snatching me up.

3O LORD my God, if I have done this,

if injustice is on my hands,

3O YHWH my God, if I have done this, if there is injustice in my palms,

4if I have rewarded my ally with evil,

if I have plundered my foe without cause,

4if I have dealt with the one at peace with me with evil, or have drawn out my enemy without cause,

5then may my enemy pursue me and overtake me;

may he trample me to the ground

and leave my honor in the dust.

Selah

5may the enemy pursue my soul and overtake it, and let him trample my life to the ground, and let him set down my honor in the dust. Selah

6Arise, O LORD, in Your anger;

rise up against the fury of my enemies.

Awake, my God, and ordain judgment.

6arise, O YHWH, in Your anger; lift up against the fury of my adversaries, and rouse Yourself for me; You have appointed a judgment.

7Let the assembled peoples gather around You;

take Your seat over them on high.

7And let the congregation of peoples surround You; and over it return in the heights.

8The LORD judges the peoples;

vindicate me, O LORD,

according to my righteousness and integrity.

8YHWH shall judge the peoples; Judge me, O YHWH, according to my righteousness, and according to my integrity within me.

9Put an end to the evil of the wicked,

but establish the righteous,

O righteous God who searches hearts and minds.

9Please, let the evil of the wicked cease, and may you establish the righteous—even the One testing hearts and kidneys, O Righteous God.

10My shield is with God,

who saves the upright in heart.

10My shield is on God, the One saving the upright of heart.

11God is a righteous judge

and a God who feels indignation each day.

11God is a righteous judge, and a God expressing wrath on every day.

12If one does not repent,

God will sharpen His sword;

He has bent and strung His bow.

12If one shall not turn back, then He sharpens His sword; He has bent His bow and prepared it.

13He has prepared His deadly weapons;

He ordains His arrows with fire.

13And for Himself He has prepared instruments of death; His arrows He makes into fiery shafts.

14Behold, the wicked man travails with evil;

he conceives trouble and births falsehood.

14Behold, he travails with evil, and he conceives trouble, and brings forth falsehood.

15He has dug a hole and hollowed it out;

he has fallen into a pit of his own making.

15He has dug a pit and hollowed it out, and he has fallen into a pit he has made.

16His trouble recoils on himself,

and his violence falls on his own head.

16His trouble shall return upon his head, and on the top of his head, his violence shall come down.

17I will thank the LORD for His righteousness

and sing praise to the name of the LORD Most High.

17I will confess YHWH according to His righteousness, and I will sing praise to the name of YHWH-Elyon.
