Psalm 91

You Are My Refuge and My Fortress

1He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High

will abide in the shadow of the Almighty.

1The one sitting in the secret place of the Most High, in the shade of Shaddai he will abide.

2I will say to the LORD, “You are my refuge and my fortress,

my God, in whom I trust.”

2I will say of YHWH: “My refuge and my stronghold, My God, I trust in Him!”

3Surely He will deliver you

from the snare of the fowler,

and from the deadly plague.

3Surely He will snatch you from the snare of the trapper, from the plague of calamity.

4He will cover you with His feathers;

under His wings you will find refuge;

His faithfulness is a shield and rampart.

4With His pinions He will give cover for you, and under His wings you will take refuge; a shield and buckler is His faithfulness.

5You will not fear the terror of the night,

nor the arrow that flies by day,

5You shall not be afraid of the terror of the night, or of the arrow that flies by day,

6nor the pestilence that stalks in the darkness,

nor the calamity that destroys at noon.

6from the plague that walks in the darkness, or from the pestilence that destroys at noon.

7Though a thousand may fall at your side,

and ten thousand at your right hand,

no harm will come near you.

7A thousand may fall at your side, and a multitude at your right hand—it shall not draw near to you.

8You will only see it with your eyes

and witness the punishment of the wicked.

8But with your eyes you shall look, and you shall see the reward of the wicked.

9Because you have made the LORD your dwelling—

my refuge, the Most High—

9Because You, O YHWH are my refuge; the Most High you have made your dwelling place.

10no evil will befall you,

no plague will approach your tent.

10Evil shall not meet with you, and plague shall not come near, by your tent.

11For He will command His angels concerning you

to guard you in all your ways.

11For He will command His angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways.

12They will lift you up in their hands,

so that you will not strike your foot against a stone.

12Upon the hands they shall lift you up, lest you strike your foot against a stone.

13You will tread on the lion and cobra;

you will trample the young lion and serpent.

13Upon the lion and cobra you will tread; you will trample the young lion and the serpent.

14“Because he loves Me, I will deliver him;

because he knows My name, I will protect him.

14“Because in Me he has delighted, so will I rescue him; I will set him up high because he has known My Name.

15When he calls out to Me,

I will answer him;

I will be with him in trouble.

I will deliver him and honor him.

15He will call on Me and I will answer him; I am with him in distress; I will deliver him and honor him.

16With long life I will satisfy him

and show him My salvation.”

16With length of days I will satisfy him, and cause him to look on My salvation.”
