Psalm 97

Let the Earth Rejoice

¹YHWH reigns, let the earth rejoice, let the many shores be glad!

²Cloud and darkness surround Him; righteousness and justice are the foundation of His throne.

³A fire goes out before His face, and burns up His adversaries round about.

⁴His lightnings give light to the world; the earth sees, and trembles.

⁵The mountains are melted like wax from before the face of YHWH, from before the face of the Lord of all the earth.

⁶The heavens declare His righteousness, and all the peoples see His glory.

⁷Let all those serving a carved image be put to shame, those boasting in idols! Bow down to Him, all gods!

⁸Zion hears and is glad; the daughters of Judah rejoice, because of Your judgments, O YHWH.

⁹For You, O YHWH-Elyon, are over all the earth; greatly are You exalted over all gods.

¹⁰O lovers of YHWH, hate evil; He preserves the souls of His holy ones; from the hand of the wicked He delivers them.

¹¹Light shines on the righteous, and gladness for the upright of heart.

¹²Be glad, O righteous ones, in YHWH, and give thanks at the remembrance of His holiness!
