Revelation 6

The First Seal: The White Horse

1Then I watched as the Lamb opened one of the seven seals, and I heard one of the four living creatures say in a voice like thunder, “Come!”

1And I saw when the Lamb opened one of the seven seals, and I heard one of the four living creatures saying as a voice of thunder, “Come!”

2So I looked and saw a white horse, and its rider held a bow. And he was given a crown, and he rode out to overcome and conquer.

2And I saw, and behold, a white horse, and the one sitting on it having a bow; and a crown was given to him, and he went out conquering, and that he might conquer.

The Second Seal: War

3And when the Lamb opened the second seal, I heard the second living creature say, “Come!”

3And when He opened the second seal, I heard the second living creature saying, “Come!”

4Then another horse went forth. It was bright red, and its rider was granted permission to take away peace from the earth and to make men slay one another. And he was given a great sword.

4And another horse went out, fiery red; and to the one sitting on it, to him was given to take the peace from the earth, and that they will slay one another; and a great sword was given to him.

The Third Seal: Famine

5And when the Lamb opened the third seal, I heard the third living creature say, “Come!”

Then I looked and saw a black horse, and its rider held in his hand a pair of scales.

5And when He opened the third seal, I heard the third living creature saying, “Come!” And I saw, and behold, a black horse, and the one sitting on it having a pair of scales in his hand.

6And I heard what sounded like a voice from among the four living creatures, saying, “A quart of wheat for a denarius, and three quarts of barley for a denarius, and do not harm the oil and wine.”

6And I heard something like a voice in the midst of the four living creatures, saying, “A choenix of wheat for a denarius, and three choenixes of barley for a denarius; and you should not harm the oil and the wine.”

The Fourth Seal: Death

7And when the Lamb opened the fourth seal, I heard the voice of the fourth living creature say, “Come!”

7And when He opened the fourth seal, I heard the voice of the fourth living creature saying, “Come!”

8Then I looked and saw a pale green horse. Its rider’s name was Death, and Hades followed close behind. And they were given authority over a fourth of the earth, to kill by sword, by famine, by plague, and by the beasts of the earth.

8And I looked, and behold, a pale green horse, and the one sitting on it, the name of him was Death, and Hades was following with him; and authority was given to them over the fourth of the earth, to kill with sword, and with famine, and with plague, and by the beasts of the earth.

The Fifth Seal: The Martyrs

9And when the Lamb opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the souls of those who had been slain for the word of God and for the testimony they had upheld.

9And when He opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the souls of those having been slain because of the word of God and because of the testimony that they had.

10And they cried out in a loud voice, “How long, O Lord, holy and true, until You judge those who dwell upon the earth and avenge our blood?”

10And they cried out in a loud voice, saying, “Until when, O Lord, holy and true, do You not judge and avenge our blood from those dwelling upon the earth?”

11Then each of them was given a white robe and told to rest a little while longer until the full number of their fellow servants, their brothers, were killed, just as they had been killed.

11And to each of them was given a white robe, and it was said to them that they will rest yet a little time, until their fellow servants would also be fulfilled, and their brothers, those being about to be killed even as they.

The Sixth Seal: Terror

12And I watched as the Lamb opened the sixth seal, and there was a great earthquake, and the sun became black like sackcloth of goat hair, and the whole moon turned blood red,

12And I saw when He opened the sixth seal, and there was a great earthquake, and the sun became black as sackcloth of hair, and the whole moon became as blood,

13and the stars of the sky fell to the earth like unripe figs dropping from a tree shaken by a great wind.

13and the stars of heaven fell to the earth, as a fig tree casts its unripe figs being shaken by a great wind.

14The sky receded like a scroll being rolled up, and every mountain and island was moved from its place.

14And heaven departed as a scroll being rolled up, and every mountain and island were moved out of their places.

15Then the kings of the earth, the nobles, the commanders, the rich, the mighty, and every slave and free man hid in the caves and among the rocks of the mountains.

15And the kings of the earth, and the great ones, and the commanders, and the rich, and the strong, and every slave and free, hid themselves in the caves and among the rocks of the mountains.

16And they said to the mountains and the rocks, “Fall on us and hide us from the face of the One seated on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb.

16And they say to the mountains and to the rocks, “Fall on us and hide us from the face of the One sitting on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb,

17For the great day of Their wrath has come, and who is able to withstand it?”

17because the great day of Their wrath has come, and who is able to stand?”
