  19. As they traveled along, Jesus entered a village where a woman named Martha welcomed Him into her home.
  20. But Martha was distracted by all the preparations to be made. She came to Jesus and said, “Lord, do You not care that my sister has left me to serve alone? Tell her to help me!”
  21. One day in a place where Jesus had just finished praying, one of His disciples requested, “Lord, teach us to pray, just as John taught his disciples.”

  31. In the meantime, a crowd of many thousands had gathered, so that they were trampling one another. Jesus began to speak first to His disciples: “Beware of the leaven of the Pharisees, which is hypocrisy.
  32. But Jesus replied, “Man, who appointed Me judge or executor between you?”
  33. Then Jesus said to His disciples, “Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat, or about your body, what you will wear.
  34. Then Jesus said to the crowds, “As soon as you see a cloud rising in the west, you say, ‘A shower is coming,’ and that is what happens.
  35. At that time some of those present told Jesus about the Galileans whose blood Pilate had mixed with their sacrifices.
  36. Then Jesus told this parable: “A man had a fig tree that was planted in his vineyard. He went to look for fruit on it but did not find any.
  37. One Sabbath Jesus was teaching in one of the synagogues,
  38. When Jesus saw her, He called her over and said, “Woman, you are set free from your disability.”
  39. But the synagogue leader was indignant that Jesus had healed on the Sabbath. “There are six days for work,” he told the crowd. “So come and be healed on those days and not on the Sabbath.”
  40. When Jesus said this, all His adversaries were humiliated. And the whole crowd rejoiced at all the glorious things He was doing.
  41. Then Jesus asked, “What is the kingdom of God like? To what can I compare it?
  42. Then Jesus traveled throughout the towns and villages, teaching as He made His way toward Jerusalem.
  43. “Lord,” someone asked Him, “will only a few people be saved?” Jesus answered,
  44. At that very hour, some Pharisees came to Jesus and told Him, “Leave this place and get away, because Herod wants to kill You.”
  45. But Jesus replied, “Go tell that fox, ‘Look, I will keep driving out demons and healing people today and tomorrow, and on the third day I will reach My goal.’
  46. One Sabbath, Jesus went to eat in the home of a leading Pharisee, and those in attendance were watching Him closely.
  47. So Jesus asked the experts in the law and the Pharisees, “Is it lawful to heal on the Sabbath or not?”
  48. But they remained silent. Then Jesus took hold of the man, healed him, and sent him on his way.
  49. When Jesus noticed how the guests chose the places of honor, He told them a parable:
  50. Then Jesus said to the man who had invited Him, “When you host a dinner or a banquet, do not invite your friends or brothers or relatives or rich neighbors. Otherwise, they may invite you in return, and you will be repaid.
  51. When one of those reclining with Him heard this, he said to Jesus, “Blessed is everyone who will eat at the feast in the kingdom of God.”
  52. But Jesus replied, “A certain man prepared a great banquet and invited many guests.
  53. Now large crowds were traveling with Jesus, and He turned and said to them,
  54. Now all the tax collectors and sinners were gathering around to listen to Jesus.
  55. Then Jesus told them this parable:
