  13. Judas consented, and began to look for an opportunity to betray Jesus to them in the absence of a crowd.
  14. Jesus sent Peter and John, saying, “Go and make preparations for us to eat the Passover.”
  15. So they went and found it just as Jesus had told them. And they prepared the Passover.
  16. When the hour had come, Jesus reclined at the table with His apostles.
  17. So Jesus declared, “The kings of the Gentiles lord it over them, and those in authority over them call themselves benefactors.
  18. But Jesus replied, “I tell you, Peter, the rooster will not crow today until you have denied three times that you know Me.”
  19. Then Jesus asked them, “When I sent you out without purse or bag or sandals, did you lack anything?” “Nothing,” they answered.
  20. Jesus went out as usual to the Mount of Olives, and the disciples followed Him.
  21. When Jesus rose from prayer and returned to the disciples, He found them asleep, exhausted from sorrow.
  22. While He was still speaking, a crowd arrived, led by the man called Judas, one of the Twelve. He approached Jesus to kiss Him.
  23. But Jesus asked him, “Judas, are you betraying the Son of Man with a kiss?”
  24. Those around Jesus saw what was about to happen and said, “Lord, should we strike with our swords?”
  25. But Jesus answered, “No more of this!” And He touched the man’s ear and healed him.
  26. Then Jesus said to the chief priests, temple officers, and elders who had come for Him, “Have you come out with swords and clubs as you would against an outlaw?
  27. Then they seized Jesus, led Him away, and took Him into the house of the high priest. And Peter followed at a distance.
  28. The men who were holding Jesus began to mock Him and beat Him.
  29. At daybreak the council of the elders of the people, both the chief priests and scribes, met together. They led Jesus into their Sanhedrin and said,
  30. “If You are the Christ, tell us.” Jesus answered, “If I tell you, you will not believe.
  31. Then the whole council rose and led Jesus away to Pilate.
  32. So Pilate asked Him, “Are You the King of the Jews?” “You have said so,” Jesus replied.
  33. And learning that Jesus was under Herod’s jurisdiction, he sent Him to Herod, who himself was in Jerusalem at that time.
  34. When Herod saw Jesus, he was greatly pleased. He had wanted to see Him for a long time, because he had heard about Him and was hoping to see Him perform a miracle.
  35. Herod questioned Jesus at great length, but He gave no answer.
  36. Wanting to release Jesus, Pilate addressed them again,
  37. But they were insistent, demanding with loud voices for Jesus to be crucified. And their clamor prevailed.
  38. As they had requested, he released the one imprisoned for insurrection and murder, and he handed Jesus over to their will.
  39. As the soldiers led Him away, they seized Simon of Cyrene on his way in from the country, and they put the cross on him to carry behind Jesus.
  40. But Jesus turned to them and said, “Daughters of Jerusalem, do not weep for Me, but weep for yourselves and for your children.
  41. Two others, who were criminals, were also led away to be executed with Jesus.
  42. Then Jesus said, “Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing.” And they divided up His garments by casting lots.
  43. Then he said, “Jesus, remember me when You come into Your kingdom!”
  44. And Jesus said to him, “Truly I tell you, today you will be with Me in Paradise.”
  45. Then Jesus called out in a loud voice, “Father, into Your hands I commit My Spirit.” And when He had said this, He breathed His last.
  46. But all those who knew Jesus, including the women who had followed Him from Galilee, stood at a distance watching these things.
  47. He went to Pilate to ask for the body of Jesus.
  48. The women who had come with Jesus from Galilee followed, and they saw the tomb and how His body was placed.
  49. …but when they entered, they did not find the body of the Lord Jesus.
  50. And as they talked and deliberated, Jesus Himself came up and walked along with them.
  51. “What things?” He asked. “The events involving Jesus of Nazareth,” they answered. “This man was a prophet, powerful in speech and action before God and all the people.
  52. …but they did not find His body. They came and told us they had seen a vision of angels, who said that Jesus was alive.
  53. Then Jesus said to them, “O foolish ones, and slow of heart to believe all that the prophets have spoken!
  54. Then their eyes were opened and they recognized Jesus—and He disappeared from their sight.
  55. Then the two told what had happened on the road, and how they had recognized Jesus in the breaking of the bread.
  56. While they were describing these events, Jesus Himself stood among them and said, “Peace be with you.”
  57. “Why are you troubled,” Jesus asked, “and why do doubts arise in your hearts?
  58. Jesus said to them, “These are the words I spoke to you while I was still with you: Everything must be fulfilled that is written about Me in the Law of Moses, the Prophets, and the Psalms.”
  59. When Jesus had led them out as far as Bethany, He lifted up His hands and blessed them.
  60. For the law was given through Moses; grace and truth came through Jesus Christ.
  61. The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him and said, “Look, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!
  62. When he saw Jesus walking by, he said, “Look, the Lamb of God!”
  63. And when the two disciples heard him say this, they followed Jesus.
  64. Jesus turned and saw them following. “What do you want?” He asked. They said to Him, “Rabbi” (which means Teacher), “where are You staying?”
  65. Andrew, Simon Peter’s brother, was one of the two who heard John’s testimony and followed Jesus.
  66. Andrew brought him to Jesus, who looked at him and said, “You are Simon son of John. You will be called Cephas” (which is translated as Peter).
  67. The next day Jesus decided to set out for Galilee. Finding Philip, He told him, “Follow Me.”
  68. Philip found Nathanael and told him, “We have found the One Moses wrote about in the Law, the One the prophets foretold—Jesus of Nazareth, the son of Joseph.”
  69. When Jesus saw Nathanael approaching, He said of him, “Here is a true Israelite, in whom there is no deceit.”
  70. “How do You know me?” Nathanael asked. Jesus replied, “Before Philip called you, I saw you under the fig tree.”

  83. Jesus answered, “Truly, truly, I tell you, no one can enter the kingdom of God unless he is born of water and the Spirit.

  85. After this, Jesus and His disciples went into the Judean countryside, where He spent some time with them and baptized.

  93. “I have no husband,” the woman replied. Jesus said to her, “You are correct to say that you have no husband.
  94. “Believe Me, woman,” Jesus replied, “a time is coming when you will worship the Father neither on this mountain nor in Jerusalem.
  95. Jesus answered, “I who speak to you am He.”
  96. So they left the town and made their way toward Jesus.
  97. Jesus explained, “My food is to do the will of Him who sent Me and to finish His work.
  98. Many of the Samaritans from that town believed in Jesus because of the woman’s testimony, “He told me everything I ever did.”
  99. After two days, Jesus left for Galilee.
  100. When he heard that Jesus had come from Judea to Galilee, he went and begged Him to come down and heal his son, who was about to die.
