1Of David.a
To You, O LORD, I lift up my soul;
1of David. Unto You, O YHWH, I lift up my soul.
2in You, my God, I trust.
Do not let me be put to shame;
do not let my enemies exult over me.
2My God, in You I trust. Do not let me be put to shame; do not let my enemies rejoice over me.
3Surely none who wait for You will be put to shame;
but those who engage in treachery without cause will be disgraced.
3Indeed, all those waiting on You will not be put to shame; those who act treacherously without cause will be ashamed.
4Show me Your ways, O LORD;
teach me Your paths.
4May You show me Your ways, O YHWH; may You teach me Your paths.
5Guide me in Your truth and teach me,
for You are the God of my salvation;
all day long I wait for You.
5Make me to walk in Your truth and teach me, for You are the God of my salvation; on You I wait all the day.
6Remember, O LORD, Your compassion and loving devotion,
for they are from age to age.
6Remember Your mercies, O YHWH, and Your loving devotion, for they are from of old.
7Remember not the sins of my youth,
nor my rebellious acts;
remember me according to Your loving devotion,
because of Your goodness, O LORD.
7May You not remember the sins of my youth, and my transgressions; according to Your loving devotion, may You remember me, for the sake of Your goodness, O YHWH.
8Good and upright is the LORD;
therefore He shows sinners the way.
8Good and upright is YHWH; upon thus, He directs sinful ones in the way.
9He guides the humble in what is right
and teaches them His way.
9He guides the humble ones in justice, and He teaches the humble ones His way.
10All the LORD’s ways are loving and faithful
to those who keep His covenant and His decrees.
10All the paths of YHWH are loving devotion and truth, to those keeping His covenant and His decrees.
11For the sake of Your name, O LORD,
forgive my iniquity, for it is great.
11And for the sake of Your name, O YHWH, may You pardon my iniquity, though it is great.
12Who is the man who fears the LORD?
He will instruct him in the path chosen for him.
12Who is this man, the one fearing YHWH? He will direct him in the way he must choose.
13His soul will dwell in prosperity,
and his descendants will inherit the land.
13His soul shall dwell in goodness, and his seed shall possess the land.
14The LORD confides in those who fear Him,
and reveals His covenant to them.
14The counsel of YHWH is with those fearing Him, and He makes known to them His covenant.
15My eyes are always on the LORD,
for He will free my feet from the mesh.
15My eyes are continually toward YHWH, for He brings out my feet from a net.
16Turn to me and be gracious,
for I am lonely and afflicted.
16May You turn to me and show favor to me, for I am lonely and afflicted.
17The troubles of my heart increase;
free me from my distress.
17The troubles of my heart have enlarged; may You bring me out from my distress.
18Consider my affliction and trouble,
and take away all my sins.
18Look on my affliction and my trouble, and lift all my sins.
19Consider my enemies, for they are many,
and they hate me with vicious hatred.
19See my enemies!—For they are many, and with violent hatred they hate me.
20Guard my soul and deliver me;
let me not be put to shame,
for I take refuge in You.
20Guard my soul and deliver me; let me not be put to shame, for I take refuge in You.
21May integrity and uprightness preserve me,
because I wait for You.a
21May integrity and uprightness keep me, for I wait for You.
22Redeem Israel, O God,
from all its distress.
22May You redeem Israel, O God, from all his distress.
