Psalm 4

Answer Me When I Call!

1For the choirmaster. With stringed instruments. A Psalm of David.

Answer me when I call,

O God of my righteousness!

You have relieved my distress;

show me grace and hear my prayer.

1For the one directing. With stringed instruments. A Psalm of David. In my calling out, may You answer me, O God of my righteousness! In my distress, You widened it for me; show me favor and hear my prayer.

2How long, O men, will my honor be maligned?

How long will you love vanity and seek after lies?

Selah

2O sons of men, until when will my glory be shame? Will you love vanity, and seek after falsehood? Selah

3Know that the LORD has set apart the godly for Himself;

the LORD hears when I call to Him.

3and know that YHWH has marked out the faithful one for Himself; YHWH hears in my calling to Him.

4Be angry, yet do not sin;

on your bed, search your heart and be still.

Selah

4Tremble and do not sin; speak in your heart on your bed, and be silent. Selah

5Offer the sacrifices of the righteous

and trust in the LORD.

5Sacrifice the sacrifices of righteousness, and trust in YHWH.

6Many ask, “Who can show us the good?”

Shine the light of Your face upon us, O LORD.

6Many are saying, “Who will show us good?” Lift upon us the light of Your face, O YHWH.

7You have filled my heart with more joy

than when grain and new wine abound.

7You have put joy in my heart, more than the time when their grain and their new wine have increased.

8I will lie down and sleep in peace,

for You alone, O LORD, make me dwell in safety.

8In peace I will both lie down and will sleep, for You alone, O YHWH, cause me to dwell in safety.
