1A Psalm of David, when he fled from his son Absalom.
O LORD, how my foes have increased!
How many rise up against me!
1A Psalm of David, in his fleeing from the face of Absalom his son. O YHWH, how many are my adversaries! Many are rising up against me!
2Many say of me,
“God will not deliver him.”

2Many are saying of my soul, “There is no salvation for him in God.” Selah
3But You, O LORD, are a shield around me,
my glory, and the One who lifts my head.
3and You, O YHWH, are a shield behind me, my glory, and One lifting high my head.
4To the LORD I cry aloud,
and He answers me from His holy mountain.

4With my voice I cry to YHWH, and He answers me from the mountain of His holiness. Selah
5I lie down and sleep;
I wake again, for the LORD sustains me.
5I lie down and sleep; I awake, for YHWH sustains me.
6I will not fear the myriads
set against me on every side.
6I shall not fear the multitudes of people, who have set themselves all around against me.
7Arise, O LORD!
Save me, O my God!
Strike all my enemies on the jaw;
break the teeth of the wicked.
7Arise, O YHWH! Save me, O my God! O that You would strike all my enemies on the jaw; may you break the teeth of the wicked!
8Salvation belongs to the LORD;
may Your blessing be on Your people.
8Unto YHWH is the salvation; may Your blessing be upon Your people. Selah
