1For the choirmaster. A song. A Psalm.
Make a joyful noise to God,
all the earth!
1For the one directing. A Song. A Psalm. Shout to God, all the earth!
2Sing the glory of His name;
make His praise glorious.
2Sing forth the glory of His name; make glorious His praise!
3Say to God, “How awesome are Your deeds!
So great is Your power
that Your enemies cower before You.
3Say to God, “How awesome are Your works! In the abundance of Your might, Your enemies feign obedience to You.
4All the earth bows down to You;
they sing praise to You;
they sing praise to Your name.”
Selah
4All the earth will bow down to You and will sing to You—they will sing praises to Your name.” Selah
5Come and see the works of God;
how awesome are His deeds toward mankind.
5Come and see the works of God, being fearsome in His dealing with the sons of man.
6He turned the sea into dry land;
they passed through the waters on foot;
there we rejoiced in Him.
6He turned the sea to dry land; through the river they passed over on foot. There we rejoiced in Him,
7He rules forever by His power;
His eyes watch the nations.
Do not let the rebellious exalt themselves.
7ruling in His might forever; His eyes keep watch on the nations; let those rebelling not lift themselves high. Selah
8Bless our God, O peoples;
let the sound of His praise be heard.
8bless our God, O peoples, and make heard the voice of His praise—
9He preserves our lives
and keeps our feet from slipping.
9the One putting our soul among the living and not having given our feet to slip.
10For You , O God, have tested us;
You have refined us like silver.
10For You have tested us, O God; You have refined us like the refining of silver.
11You led us into the net;
You laid burdens on our backs.
11You have brought us into a net; You have placed pressure on our backs.
12You let men ride over our heads;
we went through fire and water,
but You brought us into abundance.
12You have caused man to ride over our heads; we came into the fire and into the water, and You brought us forth to a watered place.
13I will enter Your house with burnt offerings;
I will fulfill my vows to You—
13I will come into your house with burnt offerings; I will fulfill to You my vows,
14the vows that my lips promised
and my mouth spoke in my distress.
14for which my lips have opened, and my mouth has spoken in the distress for me.
15I will offer You fatlings as burnt offerings,
with the fragrant smoke of rams;
I will offer bulls and goats.
15Burnt offerings of fatlings I will offer to You, with the fragrant smoke of rams; I will offer of bulls with goats. Selah
16Come and listen, all you who fear God,
and I will declare what He has done for me.
16Come, listen, all who fear God, and I will recount what He has done for my soul.
17I cried out to Him with my mouth
and praised Him with my tongue.a
17With my mouth I called out to Him, and He was praised under my tongue.
18If I had cherished iniquity in my heart,
the Lord would not have listened.
18If I had seen iniquity in my heart, the Lord would not have listened.
19But God has surely heard;
He has attended to the sound of my prayer.
19Surely God has heard; He has attended to the voice of my prayer.
20Blessed be God, who has not rejected my prayer
or withheld from me His loving devotion!
20Blessed be God, who has not turned aside my prayer, or His loving devotion from me.
